'You Are Not Alone' - Words Of Support For Ismayilova As Journalist Set To Turn 40 In Prison

Journalist Khadija Ismayilova will turn 40 on May 27 in an Azerbaijani prison. The RFE/RL reporter is serving a 7 1/2-year sentence on charges widely viewed as retaliation for her investigation that linked members of President Ilham Aliyev’s family to corruption. Ahead of her birthday, Ismayilova received words of support from American politicians. U.S. Senator John McCain and U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff said everything was being done to secure her release.
