The Pakistani Army says it has killed 11 militants in air strikes in a tribal area near the Afghan border.
A statement said the jet fighters targeted and destroyed three militant bases late on December 9 in the Tirah area of Khyber district, where the Pakistani army has been carrying out an operation against the Pakistani Taliban and other militant groups since September.
The Pakistani military says it has cleared 80 percent of another tribal region, North Waziristan, since it launched an offensive there in June against militants, using air strikes, artillery, mortar fire, and ground troops.
The army says it has killed more than 1,100 militants and lost some 100 soldiers in the operation, but the numbers cannot be independently verified.
The offensive has also displaced nearly 1 million residents.
