A Pakistani judicial commission on alleged election rigging is due to hear testimony from five witnesses on May 11.
Those summoned by the three-judge commission to testify had all headed printing offices that printed ballot papers for Pakistan’s 2013 general elections.
They include senior managers from the Printing Corporation of the Pakistan Press in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore, as well as the Postal Foundation Press in Islamabad and the Pakistan Security Printing Corporation in Karachi.
The five men are among 14 witnesses named by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) political party, which was founded by the former Pakistani cricket captain Imran Khan.
The PTI, which finished third according to the official 2013 nationwide election results and first in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, alleges that there was widespread electoral fraud.
The judicial commission in charge of the investigation is headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Nasir-ul-Mulk.
