Security personnel keep watch outside the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, after a small fire broke out there on January 15.
Reports say that a fire broke out at the Pakistani hospital where former military ruler Pervez Musharraf has been admitted for a heart condition.

Officials at the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology in Rawalpindi said the fire, which occurred early on January 15, was "of a minor nature" and was "extinguished immediately."

They said the cause of the blaze was being investigated.

Musharraf was taken to the hospital near Islamabad last week after falling ill while travelling to a special court that is considering treason charges against him.

He was diagnosed with coronary artery disease, and his lawyers are pleading for him to be allowed to receive treatment abroad.

Musharraf's lawyer Ahmad Raza Kasuri said Musharraf was not hurt.

Musharraf has been ordered to appear in person before the special court on January 16 following a review of the medical report on his heart complaint.
