A militant wanted for his alleged involvement in a series of terrorist acts was killed by police in Russia's North Caucasus Republic of Daghestan.
Ruslan Kazanbiev, 25, was killed in a shootout in Daghestan's capital, Makhachkala, on November 19, after he and his associates reportedly attacked two separate police patrols killing two police officers, and wounding one.
One passerby was also killed in a shootout.
Police in Daghestan say Kazanbiev's three associates are now hiding in a private house in Makhachkala, which is surrounded by security forces and police.
The special operation continues.
Militants in Russia's North Caucasus frequently attack police, judges, and local officials, saying they are fighting to create an Islamic state in southern Russia.
