Teachers In Islamabad Protest Transfer Order Separating Them From Families
Dozens of teachers protested in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, on January 25 to demand the cancellation of a government order to transfer them back to cities in the provinces. Many of the teachers were originally transferred to Islamabad five or more years ago and say that the order is against the existing "wedlock" law, which protects a married couple from being separated by a job transfer. The Federal Directorate of Education says its order is in accordance with the law.
