Unknown assailants have shot and killed a television journalist for Vesti-VGTRK in Nalchik, the capital of Russia's Caucasus republic of Kabardino-Balkariya.
Russian channels identified the slain journalist as Kazbek Gekkiyev.
Co-workers said Gekkiyev had finished the evening news broadcast and was on his way home when he was attacked.
He was reportedly shot in the head.
The TV station said "extremists" had earlier threatened to kill two other employees who were taken off the air for their own safety.
