MONDAY, October 14:

EU: The Eurogroup, composed of the member states whose currency is the euro, holds a meeting in Luxembourg to deal with issues relating to the Economic and Monetary Union.

Georgia: Batumi hosts the 37th session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (to October 18).

Kazakhstan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara visits Astana.

Russia/Belgium: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visits Brussels (to October 18).

Russia/Georgia: Georgian fruit exports to Russia are scheduled to resume after a seven-year ban.

UN: The United Nations Human Rights Committee session meeting opens in Geneva (to November 1).

World: The Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences 2013 announced in Stockholm.


TUESDAY, October 15:

Iran: The negotiations over Iran's nuclear program between Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and EU foreign-policy chief Catherine Ashton, along with representatives of the P5+1 group made up of the United States, Britain, China, France, and Russia, plus Germany, are due to start in Geneva.

EU/Montenegro: Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic visits Brussels to meet with EU officials.

Global: World Handwashing Day.

Kyrgyzstan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara visits Bishkek.

Russia/Ukraine: A meeting of the intergovernmental committee on economic cooperation between Ukraine and Russia begins in Kaluga.

Ukraine: EU envoys Pat Cox and Aleksander Kwasniewski report on the results of their mission in Ukraine at a meeting the political leaders of the European Parliament.

Ukraine/Estonia: Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych visits Tallinn.

UK: Winner of the Man Booker Prize 2013 announced in London.

UN: International Day of Rural Women.

World: The annual Islamic Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bairam) festival, which is also known as the "Feast of Sacrifice" in English, is celebrated across the Muslim world.


WEDNESDAY, October 16:

EU: European Commission adopts the 2013 Enlargement Package.

Russia: The Kirov region court holds the hearing of opposition leader Aleksei Navalny’s appeal against his sentence in a timber-embezzlement case.

Russia/Georgia: Tbilisi hosts Georgia-Russia business forum.

Serbia: Croatian President Ivo Josipovic visits Belgrade, meets with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic.

Tajikistan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara visits Dushanbe.

UK/Afghanistan: Chatham House in London hosts a discussion titled "Protecting Women's Rights in Afghanistan."

UN: World Food Day.

Uzbekistan: Tashkent hosts the International Uzbek Cotton and Textile Fair (to October 17).


THURSDAY, October 17:

Belarus: A mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) visits Minsk (to October 28).

EU/Azerbaijan: European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs holds a debriefing on the European Parliament's Election Observation Mission to Azerbaijan.

EU/Georgia: European Policy Center in Brussels hosts a diccussion titled “Georgia's path to Vilnius and beyond.”

OSCE/Turkmenistan: Turkmenistan jointly with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) hold an international conference on energy security in Ashgabat (to October 18).

Turkmenistan: OSCE Chairman-in-Office and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara visits Ashgabat (to October 18).
