Turkey is returning its ambassador to Egypt, but Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not say whether the move means a "normalization" of ties.
He said Turkey would "reconsider" the diplomat's position if "conditions in Egypt take a different turn."
Turkey recalled Ambassador Huseyin Avni Botsali after the Egyptian military deposed President Muhammad Morsi, a leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood, on July 3. Erdogan is a supporter of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.
The Turkish leader condemned Morsi’s ouster and what he called the "massacre" of peaceful protesters in Egypt.
