A court in Russia's Saratov region has sentenced a dog owner to probation after ruling that his dog shot and killed a man.
The Saratov regional prosecutor's office says Igor Solomin was sentenced to one year and three months probation for the killing.
The shooting happened in the Krasnokutsky district of the Saratov region on October 30, 2010.
Solomin told the court he left a loaded shotgun on the backseat of his SUV. He said the dog was jumping around and accidentally set the gun off, killing Solomin’s friend.
Solomin told a judge he considered himself guilty of manslaughter and regretted what happened.
