We seek a passionate and skilled International News and Feature Writer to join our team in Yerevan and contribute to our mission of delivering high-quality journalism to audiences worldwide.

As a News and Feature Writer, you'll create original content for TV and digital platforms. You'll pitch story ideas, show excellent storytelling & interviewing skills, and work closely with editors throughout the content creation process. You are a skilled storyteller with a knack for pitching unique story angles, conducting interviews, and working closely with editors to develop compelling narratives.

What you’ll accomplish: 

  • Pitch, report, and produce original news stories and feature content for web and social media platforms, as well as television and audio platforms.
  • Utilize excellent research and storytelling skills to create in-depth reports on significant global events and issues.
  • Work collaboratively with editorial supervisors throughout the story development process, from initial pitch to final publication.
  • Adapt quickly between breaking news coverage and longer-term feature projects, delivering accurate and timely content under tight deadlines.
  • Create content optimized for digital platforms, continuously learning new skills as social media and digital journalism evolve.
  • Serve as a field correspondent or work from the bureau, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Adhere strictly to editorial standards and contribute positively to a dynamic team environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What you bring: 

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of professional journalism experience, with a strong background in reporting and editing.
  • Proven experience in field reporting and the ability to manage both text and multimedia content.
  • Deep knowledge of political, economic, and social dynamics in the region, as well as a good understanding of international affairs.
  • Experience working in a multicultural or multinational environment is preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional interviewing, writing, and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to identify and develop unique story ideas that align with journalistic standards.
  • Proficiency in creating content for web and social media platforms.
  • Strong digital journalism skills, including audio and video editing, live streaming, SEO, and content boosting.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and social media trends.
  • Strong understanding of RFE/RL's mission and the specific needs of its target audience.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Armenian and English language
  • Working knowledge of both written and spoken Russian and English.
