RFE/RL is looking for a Network Director, who, while reporting to the CIO, and under his guidance, will be responsible for the analysis, design, strategy, planning, implementation, and maintenance of all facets of the Networks department, including Network and Unified Communications infrastructure, applications, and support.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, maintain, and implement the Networks department's strategic road map, ensuring that network technology capabilities continually support the company’s overall goals and objectives and are cost effective.
  • Lead and manage the Network department as a quality-driven Network & Unified Communications Service Management group able to sustain the company’s critical mission objectives and providing excellent customer service.
  • Oversee the networks and unified communications infrastructure, ensuring proper configuration, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of sites, software, servers, data, and file encryption.
  • Responsible for business continuity and disaster recovery of assets under the Network department’s responsibility as well as recommendations for investments and implementation of new technologies within the network infrastructure.
  • Ensure the quality and availability of networks applications and infrastructure, including compliance with RFE/RL’s governance obligations and business continuity requirements.
  • Create and implement network and unified communications policies and procedures that enable strong security and risk-management capabilities.
  • Lead, manage, and mentor Networks personnel, defining and implementing a strategy for ongoing team development and technical education, promoting their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Operations, CIO and the Finance and HR departments in deciding the Networks department's financial and human capital needs as well as the financial allocation amongst departmental teams.
  • Work closely with the CIO, CTO and Heads of Operations in the business technology planning process as well as the analysis of departmental efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Director, IT Security to ensure processes and adherence to security best practices, and with Director, IT.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.      

 

Your profile:

  • Experience in a Network management position incl. leading a Network team and in the management of network and unified communications infrastructure and systems, ideally in a global company.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure technologies, inclusive of security solutions, telecommunications, disaster recovery planning and implementation as well as data storage and backup solutions.
  • Degree preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related field. An equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable for the position.
  • Good communications skills with an ability to build rapport across the company.
  • An open, flexible, and adjusting approach.
  • Skilled in oral and written communications to adequately describe and present findings and recommendations.
  • Strong background with the Cisco IOS/Nexus platform(s) and Unified Communications.
  • Experience with global network infrastructures operating in a large-scale multi-site IP network.
  • Extensive knowledge of information systems, analysis, design, construction, integration, operation, security, and maintenance of data and digital voice networks, as well as of Internet and IP routing and configurations.
  • English language is a must, Czech language highly appreciated.
  • Other RFE/RL broadcast language welcome.

 

This is a locally recruited full-time, permanent position starting with one-year contract with the aim of its extending as open-ended after the first year. The opportunity is open preferably to the candidates based in the Czech Republic who can work without working visa and are willing to work in RFE/RL Prague’s office in a hybrid working set-up.

Appointment against this post is on a local basis only. Please note that for the locally advertised positions preference will be given to those with a work permit and/or a valid residence status in the Czech Republic. Locally recruited employees should reside within commuting distance of Prague, Czech Republic, or be willing to move to take up work. Salary scales for locally recruited employees are based on the best prevailing local conditions. RFE/RL does, however, cover the costs of interview travel and, upon appointment, some relocation costs.
