RFE/RL is seeking an experienced Kyiv-based Correspondent to create, produce, and deliver a wide range of journalistic material across multiple platforms including TV, radio, online, and social media. The Correspondent will play a key role in producing content that is relevant to the service's target audience and aligns with RFE/RL's mission, consistently exceeding content quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create original content on various topics, including short packages, features, analyses, and pieces to camera.
  • Serve as a field correspondent and reporter, independently determining the focus of reports.
  • Conduct interviews in both studio and field settings, offering expert commentary when needed.
  • Deliver live broadcasts, blogs, videos, and social media content; coordinate with sound and camera crews.
  • Produce live or recorded content using available technology; operate equipment or direct specialists as required.
  • Respond to breaking news events, delivering live or recorded reports, often on short notice and outside regular hours.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of political, economic, and social developments in Ukraine.
  • Research and select reliable information from a variety of reputable sources using editorial judgment.
  • Meet deadlines and adhere to RFE/RL’s editorial and content quality standards.
  • Suggest innovative coverage ideas and contribute to program planning.
  • Participate in feedback sessions and implement best practices for journalism.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Journalism or a related field (required).

Work Experience:

  • 5-8 years of journalism experience (required).
  • Strong familiarity with political, economic, and social issues in Ukraine and international affairs.

Competencies:

  • Ability to mentor junior staff and provide editorial feedback.
  • Proficiency with RFE/RL content management systems, including posting and editing text, photos, videos, and managing program schedules.
  • Strong team player with a positive attitude.
  • Familiarity with RFE/RL's mission and broadcast area.
  • Intermediate English skills with the ability to translate and produce content in Ukrainian and Russian.
  • Strong multimedia skills across various platforms.
  • Editorial judgment and ability to independently produce high-quality content.

Languages:

  • Ukrainian (mandatory)
  • English (working knowledge, oral + written)
